Chickadee Trail

    Description
  • If you like waterfowl and other water-loving birds, or enjoy strolling through a tall pine forest, you will like this trail. Starting behind the park's administrative building, near the tennis courts, the Chickadee Trail winds through a pine forest down to the lake, and offers good sightings of many types of birds and waterfowl.

Green Heron Trail

    Description
  • This trail winds its way through an old field that has begun to be reclaimed by nature. Bird watching is at its best in the park here. Be sure to visit the wildlife viewing station along the trail.

Island Trail

    Description
  • Beginnig near the lodge, the island travels about 75 yards to a road crossing. From here it splits and loops back around to the start. Hardwoods are the predominate trees along the trail. Passing only 50-65 feet from the shoreline, this a great place to find peace and solitude.

Saginaw Historic Trail

    Description
  • Starting across from the Amphitheater parking lot, this trail follows along an old railroad bed that was used by the Saginaw Lumber Company around 1900. The trail also makes a nice shortcut from camping area A to the lake.

Towering Pines Trail

    Description
  • This ½ mile loop trail winds through a mixed pine and hardwood forest as it reaches the lake, then returns to where it began. Especially beautiful in the spring, this trail has an abundance of dogwood trees.

Horseback Riding

DeGray Lake Resort State Park has partnered with the Arkansas Riding Stables in an effort to provide visitors to the park with a unique horseback riding experience along the shores of DeGray Lake. Guided rides are offered, and usually last about one hour. No experience is necessary, and riders of all age are welcome. Guests can even ride in shorts and shoes; no jeans or boots required. The stables are closed from November thru February. Reservations are not required, but they are recommended.
