About Hobbs

Although still a new state park, Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area (HSP-CA) is quickly becoming a popular place for hikers, mountain bikers, and horse riders alike. Covering 11,750 acres, Arkansas' largest state park in land area sits along the southern shore of Beaver Lake. Twenty-two of the parks' sixty miles of border stretch along the lake's shoreline.
HSP-CA is jointly managed by Arkansas State Parks, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Campsites along Beaver Lake are managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Currently available at the park are four different trails, including a 1/2-mile historic trail, and a 16-mile multi-use trail; an all-weather public firing range; undeveloped access to Beaver Lake; interpretive programs; and regulated hunting seasons. HSP-CA is Arkansas' only state park that allows hunting.
Opened in May of 2009, the new 17,000 sq ft visitor/education center features two classrooms, an exhibit gallery, and a wildlife viewing area. Wi-Fi wireless internet access is also available.
Also planned for future development are expanded visitor programs, cabins, pavillions, picnic areas, additional hiking trails, and archery courses.
NOTE: The shooting range is closed every Monday for maintenance and repair.
