About Pinewoods Lake

Located adjacent to Hwy 60 near Ellsinore, Missouri, Pinewoods Lake was built in the 1970s to provide fishing and other recreational opportunities. This area is a day use only facility. There are no fees to use the area, with the exception to reserve the large pavillion. This pavillion can accomodate up to 75 people, and offers numerous picnic tables, as well as two large grills.

A campground was available in the past, but has been closed for some time, leaving this area a DAY USE ONLY facility. A vault toilet is offered, but no drinking water is available.

Circling the lake, the Pinewoods Lake Trail is 1.3 miles in length, and is relatively flat the enitre way, offering no difficult sections. In fact, the first ¾ mile of the trail is accessible to handicap folks, with the rest of the trail being native surface. The trail provides abundant views of the lake, wildlife, and numerous wildflowers throughout the year. It also links many popular fishing spots along the shore with the picnic area or parking lot. NO drinking water is available along the trail or at the trailhead.

31-acre Pinewoods Lake offers great opportunities for fishing, including bass, sunfish and catfish, either from the shore or from a small boat. Electric trolling motors ONLY are allowed on the lake. From the handicap-accessible section of the Pinewoods Lake Trail, a barrier-free fishing pier can be accessed.
