Fishing on Lake Wappapello
Lake Wappapello State Park Canoeing, Kayaking & Fishing

Canoeing & Kayaking

Lake wappapello has long been a favorite of locals for water sport activities, including boating, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and much more. The state park offers three concrete boat ramps, allowing for plenty of access to the water. One is located at Asher Creek Campground, one is near the old marina, and the other is at the Allison Point day-use area, just past the cabins. A dock is also located at the old marina boat ramp. There are no launch fees or motor restrictions.

Swimming

A swimming beach is located at the Allison Point day-use area of the park. It is generally open from Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend. Please swim at your own risk, as there is no lifeguard on duty.

Fishing

The most popular activity at the park, Lake Wappapello offers anglers many opportunities to catch fish such as crappie, bass, bluegill, and catfish. Fishing is allowed throughout the park, except near the boat launch ramps, and the swimming area. Night fishing is even allowed in certain locations in the park.
