Meramec River
Meramec State Park Floating, Swimming & Fishing

Floating

The Meramec River is a Class I and sometimes Class II river that is safe and suitable for all levels of floating experience. An outside conconcessioner operates the float trips and rental within the state park, and is one of the park's most popular activities. Canoe and raft rentals are available, and shuttles, transportation, paddles and life jackets are included. Weekday float trips are substantially less crowded, and reservations are recommended on weekends, especially holiday weekends.

Swimming

While there are no designated swimming areas in the park, access to the river is throughout the park. Guests are allowed to swim at their own risk, and should choose an area to swim at their own discretion.

Fishing

As one of the most diverse rivers in the United States, the Meramec River holds over half of all the fish species found within Missouri, plus is the most diverse with other aquatic species. Fisherman can try their luck at catching all three types of black bass, along with catfish and paddlefish, plus a host of other more common types found in other rivers and streams.
