About Talimena
Located in the Ouachita Mountains of Eastern Oklahoma, Talimena State Park marks the Oklahoma entrance for the Talimena National Scenic Drive, a 54 mile scenic byway atop the Ouachita Mountains from Talihina, Oklahoma to Mena, Arkansas. The park also serves as the western starting (or ending) point for the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, which travels 223 miles through the Ouachita Mountains from Talimena State Park to Pinnacle Mountain State Park, just west of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Facilities at the park include RV and tent sites, comfort stations with restrooms and showers, a playground, picnic tables and grills, and access to hiking, mtn biking and ATV trails. Located on the western edge of the Ouachita National Forest, near the Winding Stair Mountains, Talimena State Park is a perfect base or starting point for many outdoor activities in southeast Oklahoma.
