About Lake Wister
Located in southeast Oklahoma, Lake Wister State Park is your gateway to the Ouachita National Forest. Overlooking 7,300-acre Lake Wister, this park offers five camping areas for RVs and tent campers. Plenty of recreation activities can be found in and around the park, including hiking, mtn biking, picnicking, fishing, hunting, boating and water skiing. The park also offers a water spray park for both kids and adults.
For overnight stays, facilities include cabins, tent sites, RV sites and modern restrooms with hot showers. A group camping area is also available, and can accomodate up to 100 people, and features a full kitchen and dining hall. Other facilities include picnic areas with tables and grills, pavilions, playgrounds, lighted boat ramps, a nature center, miniature golf course and a swimming beach. Hiking trails include a self-guided nature trail, a handicapped-accessible trail and a 4 mile hiking and mtn biking trail.
Located just outside the park is the Wister Wildlife Management Area, offering hunting opportunities. A waterfowl refuge is also located there, but no hunting is allowed.
