About Hazel Creek

Nestled at the end of a quiet little dirt road deep in the Ozarks, Hazel Creek Campground is neither modern nor very big. But, that is what makes this little primitive campground so peaceful and quiet, not attracting to many visitors. The campground's scenic location next to Hazel Creek offers great beauty in the spring and fall.

Hazel Creek Campground is located along the Trace Creek Section of the Ozark Trail, and serves as one of the main trailheads for this section. While this section doesn't have the vistas or other features that some of the other sections offer, it is still a great section to hike in the spring, especially just after a good spring rain. The fall offers great hiking scenery as well.

The campground itself offers primitive sites, with no hookups available. There is no water or toilets available. Each site does offer a table, fire ring, lantern post and hitching post.

Nearby, Council Bluff Lake offers opportunities for swimming, fishing and hiking.
