About Bernice Area

Located on the northwest corner of Grand Lake, the Bernice Area of Grand Lake State Park is located in an area known as the "Crappie Capital of the World." Excellent fishing for largemouth bass, white bass, channel catfish, and bluegill is also found on this part of the lake. Two boat launch ramps give access to the lake.

For the overnight visitor, 33 semi-modern RV sites and 100 primitive tent sites are available, as well as comfort stations with restrooms and showers. A nature center is open seasonally, and a park naturalist is usually available to answer questions about the wildlife found within the park and lake. A nature trail will lead you along the shores of the lake, and offers two wildlife viewing blinds. Much of the trail is paved, making it handicap accessible.
