About Bayou Bluff

Located along the banks of the Illinios Bayou, Bayou Bluff is a popular destination for paddlers of this Ozarks float stream. The rec area is the upper most put in point for the river as paddlers make the 18-mile journey downriver to just above its confluence with Lake Dardanelle. Bayou Bluff is the only campground located along the river, although other campgrounds are nearby.

During the summer months, when water levels get a little too low for floating, swimming becomes the more popular activity. Bayou Bluff is a popular spot along the Illinois Bayou for swimmers, yet its remoteness helps keep it from becoming too overcrowded.

The recreation area offers primitive camping sites, vault toilets, seasonal drinking water, and a large pavilion for group gatherings. The recreation area is normally open year-round, with drinking water typically available from April - October.
