Directions: Located just off of AR State Hwy 16. The turnoff is located approx. 1.3 miles East of Boston, or approx. 12.8 miles East of St Paul. It is also located approx. 14.8 miles West of the junction of Hwy 16 & Hwy 23 in Fallsville. This is Madison County Rd#4258/FR#1459. Reset your trip meter. As soon as you turn off the highway, there will be a "Y" intersection; stay to the Left, the right is a private drive. Continue on past 0.3 miles, which looks like a driveway. Continue past the house, then take the right at 1.2 miles, then the left at 2.0 miles. Continue following the road until it dead ends at 3.5 miles. As the road ends at Little Mulberry Creek, turn right and head downstream. Do not cross the creek. In the past, the road has become washed out, and a high clearance vehicle may be required down the last hill.

About Big Hole/Blue Hole

A little out of the way, but what a great gem of a swimming hole! This hole of water is located in the Little Mulberry Creek, near the small communities of Boston and Fallsville. The last part of the road down into the swimming hole can get pretty rough at times, requiring a high clearance or possibly even a four wheel drive vehicle. But, this not-so-easy access and its remoteness can more often than not leave the swimming hole all to yourself.

This swimming hole is pretty big and deep for the size of the creek, and is also very scenic. The pool is fed by a small waterfall/cascade, with rock ledges surrounding it. There are some good boulders in the swimming hole, and sometimes a rope swing can even be found. Just upstream, there are some small waterfalls and other beautiful spots in the creek worth exploring.

As with any swimming hole, extra caution is advised. ALWAYS check for hazards before jumping/swimming, especially in such a remote location as this one; help is a LONG ways away!
