Details & Directions

Here are four different waterfalls located relatively close to each other, along a short stretch of road that borders the Leatherwood Wilderness. The following description details how to get to each waterfall via a short bushwack down from the road. But, you could bushwack down to the first one, then follow the creek and come up to the bottom of each falls, returning to the road from the last waterfall, then hiking along the road a little over a mile back to your vehicle.

The four waterfalls we are going to visit are: China Falls, Cougar Falls, Crosscut Falls, and the Little Glory Hole. All are accessed from Rand Rd/FR# 1118. To get to Rand Rd, from Big Flat (located on AR Hwy 14 between Yellville and Mt View) travel EAST on Hwy 14 for 3.8 miles, then TURN LEFT onto Hwy 341/Push Mountain Rd (paved). Go 2.3 miles, then TURN LEFT onto Rand Rd/FR# 1118 (gravel). Travel down this road and PARK as follows: 1.2 for Cougar Falls, 1.9 for China Falls, 2.1 for Little Glory Hole, and 2.5 for Crosscut Falls. Save all of these falls for after a very good amount of rain.

Cougar Falls: To get to the first waterfall, travel down Rand Rd for 1.2 miles, then PARK on the RIGHT where you can. From the parking spot, just bushwack downhill into the woods and follow the little drainage to the small creek at the bottom. You should come to the top of Cougar Falls at around 0.3 miles.

China Falls: From Cougar Falls, drive down the road another 0.7 miles and PARK. Bushwack down the hill to your right. This one can get a little steep. If you come to the bluffline, TURN RIGHT to get to the falls. If you come to the creek, TURN LEFT and follow it to the falls.

Little Glory Hole: Back up on the road, drive another 0.2 miles and PARK along the side of the road. Drop down the steep drainage and follow the creek down to the falls. This one has drilled a hole into the overhanging bluff, much the same as the more famous Gloy Hole, just on a smaller scale.

Crosscut Falls: To get to this waterfall, continue down Rand Rd another 0.4 miles and PARK. Bushwack down into the drainage and follow the creek to the top of the falls.
