About Mount Nebo

Sitting atop 1,850 ft Mount Nebo, this Arkansas State Park is part of a series of flat-topped mountains located along the Arkansas River. With clear skies, visitors atop the mountain can see for many miles in any direction. To the west, Mount Magazine, Arkansas' highest point, can be seen, and to the east, Petit Jean Mountain is visible.
For many years, Arkansas travelers would visit the mountain for the cooler temperatures it offered, as well as a place to relax and enjoy nature. Water was also retrieved from the many natural springs found on the mountain. In 1933, a portion of Mount Nebo was chosen to be a park site. The Civilian Conservations Corps used native logs and stones to build many structures on the mountain. Many of these include bridges, trails, pavilions, and cabins.
34 primitive campsites and 14 fully-equipped cabins are offered at the park. Each cabin offers kitchens and fireplaces, plus many other amenities. They range anywhere from basic one-bedroom cabins, to three bedrooms with a spa tub. Click here to learn more.
Fourteen miles of trails are available at Mount Nebo State Park. Three hiking trails are available, including the 4-mile Bench Trail. This trail doubles as a mountain biking trail, and its mostly level route circling the mountain makes it a great family biking trail. Some of the park's primitive campsites are available along this trail as well. Bicycle rentals are available from the Visitor Center.
